Why booking your holidays with me feels very different to booking online

If you are anything like my clients, you are busy. Life is full, your annual leave is precious, and the last thing you want is to spend your evenings scrolling through hundreds of hotels, second‑guessing reviews and worrying that you have missed something important.

That is exactly where I come in.

I am your personal Travel Counsellor: someone who gets to know you, understands what a “perfect holiday” really means for you, and quietly takes care of every detail in the background so you can simply look forward to going away.

In this blog I want to share what that really looks like in practice, and why booking with me is so different from doing it all yourself online.

1. You are not a booking reference, you are a person

Online, you are a username and a card number. With me, you are much more than that.

I want to know things like:

  • How you like to relax: by the pool with a book, hiking into the hills, or wandering through local markets.

  • What “luxury” means to you: a boutique hotel with character, a sleek all‑suite resort, or a private villa with space for the whole family.

  • The little details: preferred airlines, seats, dietary requirements, any mobility needs, and what has gone wrong on past trips so we do not repeat it.

That means your holiday is shaped around your personality, not around an algorithm.

2. Tailor‑made, not “one size fits all”

I specialise in premium, tailor‑made travel. That could mean:

  • A relaxed week in a stylish adults‑only resort with private transfers and a spa day already arranged.

  • A multi‑centre itinerary combining a cultural city stay, a few days of soft adventure, and a beachfront finish.

  • A carefully planned family escape where the kids are entertained, the grown‑ups can genuinely switch off, and everyone has room to breathe.

Using our bespoke IT system, I search a wide range of trusted accommodation and travel options, then hand‑pick the ones that genuinely fit you. No endless scrolling, no overwhelm, just a curated shortlist that makes sense for your budget and your style.

You stay in control of the decisions, but I do the legwork.

3. One point of contact, from first idea to landing back home

You will not be passed from department to department or sit in a call queue if you need help.

When you book with me:

  • I am the one who talks through your wish‑list at the very beginning.

  • I am the one who refines your itinerary and makes your booking.

  • I am still the same person you speak to if you have a question a week before travel, or if you need help while you are away.

That continuity means you never have to explain your situation twice. I already know you, your plans, and the details of your trip.

4. Support when you really need it

We all know travel does not always run perfectly to plan. Flights change, strikes happen, luggage goes astray.

When something unexpected crops up, you are not left trawling through terms and conditions or trying to get through to a call centre. You have me, and I have the backing of Travel Counsellors’ 24/7 support.

I:

  • Keep an eye on your trip in the run‑up to departure.

  • Help with any changes or re‑routing if needed.

  • Liaise with suppliers on your behalf, so you are not left navigating it alone.

My job is to protect your precious holiday time so that, even if travel throws up a curveball, you still feel looked after.

5. Honest advice, not algorithms

Because I work for you, not for a specific airline or hotel, my recommendations are always based on what is right for you.

If a hotel looks glossy but I know it does not deliver on service, I will tell you.
If a cheaper option is likely to make the journey stressful, I will explain the trade‑off.
If I feel a destination is not quite right for the experience you have described, I will suggest alternatives.

You get clear, human advice rather than pages of sponsored results.

6. Time back in your life

Most of my clients could theoretically plan their own trips. The question is: should they?

Between work, family, and everything else, planning a complex itinerary can easily eat into your evenings and weekends. Researching, comparing, checking small print and trying to coordinate flights, transfers and hotel policies is time‑consuming.

I take that off your plate:

  • I research the options and narrow them down.

  • I check connections, timings, and sensible transfer arrangements.

  • I go through the details and highlight anything you should be aware of.

You save hours, often days, of planning time and decision fatigue. You simply choose from a thoughtfully curated set of options, then look forward to your holiday.

7. Financial protection and peace of mind

When you book independently, you are often stitching pieces together yourself, sometimes with very little protection if something goes wrong.

When you book your holiday with me through Travel Counsellors:

  • Your money is protected in line with UK regulations.

  • Your arrangements are managed professionally.

  • You have the reassurance that there is a company, and a named person (me), standing behind your booking.

That peace of mind is a big part of the “luxury” of using a personal Travel Counsellor: it is not only about the hotel you stay in, but how confident and relaxed you feel before you even leave home.

8. Thoughtful extras that make your holiday feel special

The joy for me is in the small touches.

Depending on your trip, that might mean:

  • Recommending a favourite local restaurant that matches your tastes.

  • Suggesting a private transfer or lounge access to make a long journey feel smoother.

  • Planning a special surprise for a birthday, honeymoon or anniversary while you are away.

These are the details that turn “a good holiday” into “a trip we still talk about years later”.

Ready to start planning?

If you are dreaming of your next escape and would like someone to take away the stress, add ideas you may not have thought of, and be there for you every step of the way, I would love to help.

Your only job: tell me what you would like your time away to feel like.
My job: turn it into a beautifully planned holiday, booked safely through Phenix, with all the details taken care of.
